Johnson Home Burns Down; Family In Montana One of the first houses to be built in Montwell burned to the ground early Thursday morning between 2 and 3 a.m. The fire was started in the basement by a coal furnace. No one knows just what happened. Mr. and Verl Johnson, owners, were in Montana visiting their son, Glenn and family. They left another son, Cecil, to look after the place while they were away. He and a friend, Jimmy Shaw, were sleeping when the fire started. start-ed. They managed to wake up and escape with their clothes. Cecil didn't have time to get a coat. Despite the efforts of their neighbors and men from the power pow-er company, who came down to help, the fire destroyed everthing. The Johnsons were sent word about the disaster, and Mrs. Johnson John-son and Glenn came down to see about thigs. They and Cecil have returned to Montana to stay until after Christmas, when they hope to have some plans by then. The house was built a good many years ago by Ben Johnson, who died a few years ago. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Shaw are the proud parents of a baby girl, born in the Roosevelt Hospital Nov. 27. They also have two sons, Mark and Max. Sunday School was held in the ward to a small gathering that did not attend conference. Mrs. Marvin Roberts and children chil-dren of Roosevelt visited at her parents' home over the weekend. Mrs. Ruth Haslem of Bennett and baby were visitors at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Hamblin, last week. iSteve Adams and sons, Earl and Harvey, were recent visitors here. . Mrs. Howard Crapo is spending a few weeks in their home here while her husband is at work near Provo. |
