Show School Doings ALTERRA HIGH It's back-to-school again for all the kids at Alterra and what an exciting school year , this will be with our new principal, prin-cipal, Mr. Hatch, and such an enthusiastic faculty! Under the capable direction of F.H.A. President Elaine Taylor Tay-lor and F.F.A. President Merlin Mer-lin Huber, both clubs are well organized. They are jointly sponsoring one of the most exciting ex-citing dances of the year, the Harvest Ball, Friday. Oct. 7. Everyone is casting contemplative contempla-tive glances at the pretty gals to find one suitable for Quoen of the Ball. The Spartanette club, with peppy Maxlne Nyberg as president, presi-dent, is well underway. Initiation Initia-tion of all new members was held at Roosevelt City park, where a very enjoyable evening was spent with new members being required to parade the streets with their clothes on backwards. Sandwiches, lolly-pops lolly-pops and what-not, and a scavenger scav-enger hunt rounded out the event. Arlene Horrocks, reporter ROOSEVELT HIGH Lyle Benson's death has left a definite gap in student affairs af-fairs at R H . S. The pleasant vice president of the student-body student-body had a way of being unobtrusively unob-trusively forceful, and the influence in-fluence he wielded as a far-above-average student in the classroom was no less than that of an able athlete on the playing play-ing field. He began his school year maintaining his habitual high scores in class work; the perfect English test paper that came in the morning of the fatal clay is still with those of his class- mates and everytime the football foot-ball team's cleated feet echo in the lower hall, a mental picture pic-ture of "Bens" comes to mind. A brief moment of silent tribute tri-bute to him was solemnized by the students Monday, but the place is so full of his memory that tributes to his cheery influence in-fluence will be a part of school life for a long time. An imposing delegation of cheer leaders sparkled at the Roosevelt-Uintah game at Ver-nal, Ver-nal, Friday. Six yell artists welded the scattered Roosevelt students into a unified cheering cheer-ing section. A favorable response re-sponse from the voters attested to the success of this innovation six cheer leaders hits a new high in number and when Jerry Stinnett and Marilyn Zir-ker, Zir-ker, in blue satin, line up alongside along-side Bonnie Adams and Alma Smith, in gold satin, then Joe Reidhcad and Eldon Winterton add masculine stability to the delegation, a coordinated cheer is ready to sound out. |
