Show Plant Processes 20,000 Turkeys With the completion of work last Friday afternoon, the Lee Brown turkey plant in Roosevelt had processed 20,000 turkeys during the six weeks of its fall operations, according to Manager Tom White. Despite the fact that this year's run placed 20,-000 20,-000 birds on the market for the holiday season, the number fell way short of the birds handled in 1944 and 1945. In the autumn of 1944, 40,000 turkeys were handled at the local lo-cal plant twice the number processed this year. In 1945, the figure dropped to 30.000 and took an additional 10,000 drop this year. The shortage of milled turkey food is held responsible for the decline in the number of birds processed this year. Limitations on prepared feeds hampered normal turkey production in the Uintah Basin, Mr. White disclosed. |
