Show Represented At Convention Saturday Three officers of the Duchesne County Teachers Association represented re-presented their district at the Utah Local Presidents canven-tion. canven-tion. and House of Delegates meeting at the State Capital in Salt Lake Saturday, October 9. Those making the trip were Avard A. Rigby, Local President; Leland Wiscombe, vice president; and Ferrin Van Wagoner, delegate. dele-gate. The Local Presidents association associa-tion was re-organized and in addition ad-dition to a discussion of problems pertaining to membership in educational ed-ucational organizations, insur ance, i-ieaun, ana reurauem, Lieutenant Elton spoke briefly on Selective Service, and its probable effects on our educational system. The Lieutenant, who is a member of Colonel Rich's State Selective Service Staff, suggested that an Advisory educational committee be organized to work cooperatively cooperative-ly with the Selective Service Board. The committee would serve as a clearing House for problems pro-blems concerning induction, deferments, de-ferments, and personnel adjustments. adjust-ments. Mr. Rigby was recently elected President of the Duchesne Teachers Teach-ers association for the third consecutive con-secutive year, while Mr. Wiscombe Wis-combe and Mr. Van Wagoner have each had one previous year in office. |
