Show Contract Let For Boneta-Altamont Road Improvement State Road Commissioner Wil-lard Wil-lard A. Day reported by long distance telephone, Wednesday morning," that bids on the Altamont Alta-mont - Boneta road had been opened and the contract let. L. A. Young, Richfield contractor, was awarded the job, Tuesday, on a bid of $66,861. Work will start immediately, according to Mr. Day, and will consist principally .of eliminating eliminat-ing the 13 per cent grade on the hill west of Altamont and the construction of a new bridge across the Lake Fork river. School busses traveling the road to and from the Altamont high school have been faced with a hazard in the grade that drops down to the river. west of Altamont, Al-tamont, Mr. Day advised. "When this grade is eliminated the road will meet with Federal aid specifications spe-cifications relative to safe thoroughfares," Commissioner Day pointed out. Work on the Altamont-Boneta road will not affect Federal aid funds allotted to Utah and earmarked ear-marked for Duchesne county. State funds will be used for the improvements, and in connection with the contract 10 tons of gravel will be crushed at the scene of operations for use on other roads of the county, Mr. Day also reported that plans for a new bridge across Dry Gulch at Roosevelt have been completed and that $25,000 will be spent on the project. |
