Show THE AMERICAN WAY WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? yji I' vSl :.' By Gears' Peck fiOj I Where do we go from here? (The answer to that question will in large measure be determined on Election Day, Tuesday. November No-vember 5th. It is to be hoped that the millions of eligible voters vot-ers who at past elections have failed to exercise their Ameri- jcan heritage, will this time take I the trouble to examine the candidates can-didates and vote. In recent years the number of countries where citizens retain I the privilege of going to the polls ! to vote, without fear of reprisal, for candidates of their choice, "has narrowed down to a very few. How fortunate are we Amer-ics Amer-ics that our country is one of that small handfull! We must keep America that way. And so on November 5th, we. will again have an opportunity to speak our piece, to express our approval or to register our displeasure. Ours will be the privilege to name the 435 men and women to represent us in 1 the Lower House of Congress for the next two years. Also, there will be 36 Senators to be selected. select-ed. Every American owes it to himself and to his fellow-citizens to exercise his personal right to I vote. Of course, if you have never complained about your govern-' govern-' mcnt; if you are completely sat isfied that the past Congresses have served this country with maximum efficiency; if you think good government just happens, hap-pens, then don't bother to vote next November 5th. But, if on the other hand, you are weary of high taxes; if you are appalled at the unconstitutional unconstitu-tional meddling of the federal government into the affairs properly pro-perly belonging to the individual states and to private business; if you are alarmed at the already staggering national debt and the knowledge that the present administration ad-ministration gives every indication indica-tion of hiking it up still further; if you are a bit fed up with being be-ing pushed around by unelected bureaucrats, then, for heaven's sake, do something about it, investigate in-vestigate the candidates and go to the polls next November 5th. And don't alibi yourself with the old hackneyed excuse, that politicians are all alike, that there is little difference between I the policies of parties and candidates. can-didates. Never has there been a time in the history of this nation na-tion when candidates stand for such divergent ideologies and concepts of government. No one can honestly be neutral. There is no middle ground. Each and every citizen must make up his mind whether this nation is to get back on the course it pursued pur-sued so successfully for 150 years, or whether it is to travel along one of the imported, European-style highways. The decision is' up to you. No matter who is your choice be , he or she Democrat or Republican Republi-can go to the polls next November Novem-ber 5th and vote. But before doing so make sure that the can- i ddate for whom you vote will do nothing to disturb your sacred right to vote in the future. You, Mr. and Mrs. America, are the final arbiters as to where we go from here Do your duty ex- ercise your right investigate jyour candidates and VOTE. |
