Show A' Proclamation WHEREAS, freedoms of press, speech, assembly and worship are the bulwarks of our democracy; democ-racy; and WHEREAS, the work of publishers, pub-lishers, editors and reporters of our local newspapers represent our best hope and promise of continued freedom of the press; and, WHEREAS, the newspapers of the nation and of our state did a magnificent job during the war in reporting conditions, giving . much space to worthy programs and operating under a voluntary code of censorship; and, WHEREAS, it is fitting to salute sal-ute the newspapers and the men and women affiliated with them for the job they have done, the job they arc doing, and the job they will continue to do in the future. NOW, THEREFORE, I, HERBERT HER-BERT B. MAW, Governor of the State of Utah, do designate the period of October 1st to October 8th. National Newspaper Week for Utah and I urge our citizens to Jbecome familiar with and to evaluate the great contributions made by the daily and weekly newspapers of our state and to know and realize that "A Free Press Voice of Freedom" is truly a "Guardian of Democracy."
