Show bluebeLL" " OOCXZXCXZKJCJX?300 Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Merrell of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Winona Win-ona Wannacott of Provo visited with Bishop and Mrs. Bernard Winkler and family on Tuesday and Wednesday. Sterling was recently discharged from the army where he served as a Major. Maj-or. They all visited Mutual on Tuesday night where they relat-1 relat-1 ed some of their experiences. Sterling and Winona are both well known in Bluebell. I Mrs. Florence Hancock return-I return-I cd home Wednesday from Salt I Lake where she has spent a few days visiting with relatives. Alva Bird pleasantly surprised his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Bird, when he returned home Friday evening without their knowing he was even in the United States. Alva has been in the army since Oct. 1941 and has spent about two years in the South Pacific. He has received his discharge. Ivan Anderson and Sherman Anderson, sons of Mr. and Mrs. John X. Anderson, arrived here last Tuesday. Ivan has been in the army three years and has spent two years in the South Pac ific. He has received his dis charge and after visiting here with friends and relatives will make his home in Magna. His wife who accompanied him here with their small son has been living liv-ing in Magna with her parents. Sherman is in 'the Navy and has served about two years. He landed land-ed in the U.S. on Dec. 7. He has been in the Aleutians, and was on a ship at Okinawa when the typhoon hit the island. He was in Japan just before leaving for the United States. And he say's there's no place like home. There has been several cases of chicken-pox in Bluebell. Also there are quite a few people ill with the flu. Miss LaWanna Murray was an honored guest at a birthday party Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orie Cook. Guests present were Hazel Bird Virginia Goodrich. Beth Winkler Elva Hancock, Clyde Lisonbee! Lee Pitts, Lowell Strasburg, Orup Nelson, Dale Cummings, Marion Iorge and Gerald Mitchell. Mitc-hell. A delicious lunch was served serv-ed after which the evening was spent in playing games. A number of Bluebell folks attended at-tended P.T.A. at Mt.Emmons on Saturday night, One of the problems prob-lems discussed was that girls should wear long stockings during dur-ing cold weather. On Sunday a number of ward and stake officers from Bluebell attended Correlation meeting at Mt. Emmons. Loyd Goodrich, a son o f Mr. and Mrs. John Goodrich, arrived here last week from the South Pacific. He enlisted in the army in August 1941, and has been overseas for about three and a half years. He has received his discharge. Mr. and Mrs. John Thorsen entertained at a delicious dinner on Thursday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. John Goodrich and son, Lloyd. A ward party was held on Friday Fri-day night at the Ward Hall honoring hon-oring our service men who have recently returned home: Lloyd Goodrich, Ivan Anderson and Alvic Bird who have received discharges, and Sherman Anderson, Ander-son, and Fred Mathews who are home on furlough. A delightful Erogram was presented, followed y a dance. Mrs. Mary Merreils of Salt Lake City is visiting with her daughter and family. Bishop and Mrs. Bernard Winkler. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Johnsen Sr. of Murray visited in Bluebell with Mr. and Mrs. John Thorsen a few days. They also spent some time in Duchesne and Utahn with other relatives. Howard Goodrich and Duane Hancock spent the weekend at home with their parents. They are employed at the Gilsonito mines. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Anderson visited Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hart-man Hart-man on Thursday. Marion Seeley has gone to herd sheep for Paul S. Hansen, Mrs. Lucille Winkler, Mrs. Mary Merrell, Virginia Goodrich, and Beth and Maxine Winkler attended Sacrament meeting at Altonah on Sunday. Beth, Maxine Max-ine and Virginia sang a trio, as their Seminary class was giving the program Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Goodrich announce the engagement engage-ment of their daughter, Jeanne, to Alma Richmond of Roosevelt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Richmond. |
