Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Cook of Helper were guests at the Homer P. Edwards home Sunday. Sherman Young of Provo was a business visitor in Roosevelt over the week end. Mrs. Grace Van, who underwent under-went and operation at a Salt Lake City hospital recently is now home and reported doing fine. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Whitlock of Salt Lake City were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Harmston. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Wis-; combe spent the week end with I his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wiscombe. Karl Lemon, who has been employed em-ployed in Provo for the past two years was visiting In Roosevelt Roose-velt the past week. Mrs. Ray Allen of Salt Lake City spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Allen last week. She returned to her home Saturday. Sat-urday. Miss Mary Dillman, who has been attending the Agriculture college at Logan came home Sat-. Sat-. urday to spend the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Dillman. Fran Feltch and Martin Campbell Camp-bell of Vernal made a landing on Roosevelt airport Wednesday morning. The two planes are conected with the school located at Vernal. Mrs. Mae Jackson and son, Eddie and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson of Salt Lake City spent the week end visiting at the home of Mrs. Jackson's sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. 5. Rawlings. Leland Wilde, principal of the Roosevelt Elementary school, has purchased the home formerly former-ly owned by Mrs. Louise Fisher of Bountiful and which was managed by Mrs. C. C. Larsen. They will move to their new home in a month. Sam Q. Weiss went to Salt Lake City over the week end to get his wife and son, Dickie who have been visiting at the home of Mrs. Weiss' mother, Mrs. Ad-olphus Ad-olphus Ellis, who also accompanied accompan-ied them home. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Nelson announce an-nounce the arrival of a seven and half pound baby boy born June 6, at the Bingham Canyon hospi- tal. Mrs. Nelson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer P. Edwards. Miss Lorna Stoddard, who has been staying here with her grandmother, Mrs. Annie Jorgen-sen Jorgen-sen and going to school left Sunday Sun-day for Salt Lake City where she plans on spending some time with her mother, Mrs. Elna Stoddard. Mrs. Homer P. Edwards who has been spending ten days with her daughter and son, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Nelson in Bingham 7" Canyon returned home Tuesday with Mr, Edwards who went out Sunday to get her and their grandchildren MaReen and Miles Nelson who will spend the summer sum-mer with their grandparents. Mrs. Mont Killian and son, who have been spending the past few months visiting her sister, Mrs. Eldon Campbell at Yuba City, California, came home Wednesday. They arrived in Salt Lake City by plane and her mother, Mrs. Pearl Moysh met her there. Daughters of Utah Pioneers The Roosevelt Camp of the daughters of the Utah Pioneers met Friday at the home of Mrs. Tina Wilkins. Mrs. Helen Howell the president presided at the meeting. Mrs. Tina Wilkins was appointed assistant chorister. Mrs. Mary Orser gave the lesson which was the story of Three hundred emigrants from Denmark, Den-mark, their experiences and stories of their journey and the events leading up to their emigration. emi-gration. Those present were Mrs. Howell, Mrs. Mary Orser, Mrs. Rella Felstead, Mrs. Lola Rich-ens, Rich-ens, Mrs. Clara Hanson, Mrs. Margaret Wiscombe, Mrs. Pearl Redmond, Mrs. Grace Hacking, Mrs. Vivian Gleaton, Mrs. Lila Nickell, Mrs. Clara Timothy, Mrs. Hazel Beeler, Mrs. Daisy Killian, Mrs, Olive Harrison. Delicious De-licious refreshments were served after the meeting. Altrus Club The Altrus club met at the home of Mrs. Axel Birch Thursday Thurs-day evening. After delicious refreshments re-freshments were served, Mrs, R. S. Jordan, the president called the meeting to order and the members present responded to roll call with current events; Mrs. Lynn Nichell gave a very interesting and well prepared report re-port on "Winter Wheat". The guests were Mrs. Mary Orser, Mrs. Mattie J. Edwards, Mrs. Cam Harmston, Mrs. Viola Harmston, Mrs. Arvilla Ritchie, Mrs. Elva Stewart, Mrs. Fawn Leavitt, Mrs. Virginia Rigby, I Mrs. Blanche Murphy, Mrs. Nichell, Nich-ell, Mrs. Jordan and the hostess, Mrs. Birch. Bridgette Club Mrs. Glen Miller was hostess to the members of the Bridgette club Thursday evening. After a lovely luncheon was served tables were arranged for bridge. Members present were Mrs. Bob Huish, Mrs. Frank Mohlman, Mrs. Bill Nelson, Mrs. Elmer Eldredge, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Bud Wingo, Mrs. Karl Burgess, Bur-gess, Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, Mrs. Bernard Larsen and the hostess. New Arrival Mr. and Mrs. William Brother-son Brother-son of Boneta are the parents of a new 10 lb. baby boy, born May 31st. Mrs. Brotherson and babe are at the Harmston home and getting along fine. Howard Wiscombe, son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wiscombe has received his call for service with the armed forces and will report in Salt Lake City Friday. Howard graduated from the Roosevelt High school a year ago and attended the fall and winter quarters at the Brigham Young University at Provo. Miss Carol Birch and Fletcher Learning of the U S Navy Air Corp, spent last week end visiting visit-ing with Carol's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Axel Birch. They spent the fore part of the week with Mr. Learning's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fletcher Flet-cher at Moab. Mr. Learning will report to Livermore, California, June 12 to continue his Navy Cadet training and Carol will return to her work at Ft. Douglas. |
