Show FISH AND GAME COiVIEVllSSIOHERS TO MEET WITH LOCAL CLUBS IN ROOSEVELT SATURDAY, JUNE 10 Fish Holding Ponds For Uintah Basin To Be Discussed at Banquet Saturday At the request of the Roosevelt Wildlife Conservation club and the Women's Fish and Game club, the Utah State Fish and Game commissioners, director along with other department heads will visit Roosevelt and the Uintah Basin Saturday and Sunday of this week. For Better Fishing For a long time the sportsmen organizations of this section of in the state have been exerting every effort to secure better fishing in the streams of the Basin and now that the new fish hatchery at Whiterocks has been completed and in a position to rear at least three times the amount of fish per year, the problem now faces them in the proper planting and holding of said fish to a legal size before being turned into the fast running run-ning streams, hence the importance import-ance of this meeting. The Roosevelt club has three holding pond projects marked out for the Commissioners consideration, con-sideration, which will be presented present-ed to them during this meeting." Plan Trip To Uintah Canyon The planned entertainment as arranged will consist of a banquet ban-quet Saturday evening held at the American Legion barracks, after which a big Sportsmen's dance will be held at Victory Park. Sunday morning both clubs and officials will take in the proposed holding pond sites in Uintah Canyon, and from there they will go to Whiterocks to inspect the newly comlpeted fish hatchery. Membership Raised The Roosevelt Wildlife Conservation Con-servation club this year has boosted its membership to better bet-ter than 120 members and the Women's Fish and Game club, which is the only organized in the state has better than 100 members paid in at the present time, with the campaign still in progress. These two clubs are among the most active in the state of Utah. |
