Show SCHOOL DOINGS This week we received our report re-port cards! As in all things, some were good and some were bad, but maybe our New Year's Resolutions Res-olutions will help. Well, the townspeople from Rooseyelt and Vernal really turned turn-ed out in a big way for the game between our Rough Riders and the Uintah Utes Friday evening, January 4. With the townspeople and so many students there, the gymnasium was very crowded. The Roosevelt "B" team really scooped the Utes second team, everyone joined In the noise as our second team made basket after basket. Then the tables turned and we lost the main game. But we are not down yet. Coach Owen says we have a fine team, and I'm sure we are all looking forward to the next game with Uintah. The P. T. A. met Monday evening, even-ing, and they were very disappointed disap-pointed with the parents turn out. There were only a few parents par-ents present. Speaking freely "What is the matter, parents?" If we are to have a successful school it needs the cooperation of the parents. Let's take heed! An assembly to inform the student body of the new student court, new rules, regulations, etc, was held Wednesday, A police force to patrol halls and study classes and such things has been organized and rules are going to be enforced. Maybe we can travel through the lower halls without danger of our lives, now. The girl's basketball team of Roosevelt high school has certainly cer-tainly shown a great improvement improve-ment since their first game with Duchesne at Roosevelt. They showed a very fine fighting spirit at the game played at Duchesne on January 2, and they tried very hard to win although Duchesne Du-chesne came out on top with the score 25-24. The game was a fast and hard one with plenty of fair play and enjoyment. The turn out of Duchesne people peo-ple was swell. They had a large crowd that cheered for their team whenever their star player. Lena May Neilson, gracefully made a basket. In fact, that game was such a success that Superintendant Bond has decided to arrange a girl's basketball tournamant throughout through-out the county patterned after the boy's program. He stated that it would commence in the very near future and we shonld like the supnort of all the public and our student body at our games We invite you to attend and would like a large crowd. We are looking forward to a very good line up with othr rhools in the future, especially Duchesne. We hope to come out with flvin? colors and I am sure we will with the heln of our efficient ef-ficient instructor, Mrs. Weed, and the further development of teamwork. Last evening, January 8, a wallet was taken from the dressing dress-ing rooms in the Elementery school. Contained therein were some valuable papers that cannot can-not be replaced. The owner would appreciate the return of said papers. |
