Show BASIN BRIEFS Mr. and Mrs. Lee Harmston are home from Vicksburg, Miss., to spend the holidays with Mr. Harmston's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harmston, and other relatives. rel-atives. Incidentally they arrived in a brand new Pontiac. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Laurent left Friday to spend the Christmas holidays in Dallas. Leon Walters, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Walters, will be guest of honor at a farewell party par-ty Tuesday evening in the Bridgeland Ward hall. Mr. Walters Wal-ters is leaving January 5 to fill a mission in the Canadian Mission Mis-sion field. Christmas Program A Christmas program will be presented by the pupils of the Elementary school. Monday evening, eve-ning, Dec. 22, at 7:30 p. m. All parents and friends are cordially cordial-ly invited. School buses will pick up out-of-town parents and students. Baptist Church A special candlelight service i will be conducted Sunday evening, eve-ning, Dec. 21, at 7 p. m. at the Roosevelt Baptist church. Following Fol-lowing the theme, "The Light Is Come," features of the program will include Christmas carols by the congregation and church choir, with vocal solos by Marvin Mar-vin Penfield; vocal duets and quartet numbers by Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dil.lman; and instrumental instrumen-tal music by Marvin Penfield and Lloyd Hart. The public is invited to attend. D U P Because of Christmas falling on the day of the regularly scheduled sched-uled D U P meeting, the date has been changed to Friday, Jan. 2, at 3 p. m. at the home of Lcla Labrum. This will be the annual Christmas party and gifts will be exchanged. All members and eligible el-igible members are urged to be present. 4Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nelson spent the weekend in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Hank bwain returned Wednesday from a convention con-vention of the National Automobile Automo-bile Dealers Association, held December 15 in Salt Lake City. Incidentally "Hank" came home with a swell collection of jokes. Roosevelt Ward MIA will be held Friday, December 19, at 7:30 p. m.-instead of on Thursday. Thurs-day. A special Christmas program pro-gram has been outlined to be presented by the Beehive girls and Boy Scouts. The following one-act plays will be presented: First-year Beehive girls, "Everybody "Ev-erybody Likes Pretty Things," with Mary Murphy Dolores Brown, Elaine McKenna, Sammy Summarell. Rhea Mecham and Shaunna Gilbert in the cast. ThirH.voap ' 'Rfihivf frirlc "Buried Treasure," with Joyce McKenna, Darlene Brown, Maureen Mau-reen Gilbert, Louise Stoddard, Alta Jackson, Marlcne Fredrick-son, Fredrick-son, June Fenn, and Carol Patry. Between plays feature numbers num-bers will be presented by Renee Labrum, Clifton Moore, "Sunny" Mecham, Stratford Loosle and Virgie Murphy, with two songs by the second-year Beehive girls. The plays are under the direction direc-tion of Melba Swain, M.I. A. drama dra-ma director, and Mrs. Mable Allen Al-len and Mrs. Lillian Carlson, Beehive class advisors. |
