Residents will pay an additional addi-tional 50 cents a month in water wa-ter useage fees as a consequence consequ-ence of extended development in the city's water department. The increase is tied to the proposed construction of a new pump house. Property owners will be charged $4, rather than $3 .50 per month for water service. Billings will continue to go out once every two months. THE COUNCIL approved an 8 percent across-the-board wage and benefit hike for employees em-ployees and agreed to pick up the employees' share of retirement retire-ment costs from now on. Mayor Lawrence Urry said a portion of the 8 percent increase in-crease will go toward benefits, the remaining portion in the form of a salary hike. The city is in the process of doing a study to determine how municipal salaries compare com-pare with those in cities of comparable size, as well as in industrial and business settings. set-tings. Salary adjustments will be made when the study is completed, Mayor Urry said. THE MAYOR said the city is operating on a "sound financial finan-cial basis" and has accumulated accumu-lated enough funds to look at park development and the construction con-struction of a satellite fire station. sta-tion. "We've got a good reserve on hand so that we can take care of emergencies without having to go out and borrow money," he said. MAYOR URRY said the city plans to hold the mill levy down during fiscal 1982-83. And that means local property owners won't have to worry about any additional taxes this year. According to the approved budget, the city anticipates receiving re-ceiving $100,000 in general property taxes and $260,000 in general sales and use taxes.
