Show quarterback Fighting Gets j Jeff To Top ' Jeff Meservy has been a fighter all year, and ' he's always come out on top. s FIRST OF all Jeff had to fight for the starting i quarterback spot on the Viewmont varsity club and to be honest very few felt he would still be V starting when the season ended. Not only did I Jeff work hard and fool most so-called experts but he also did his job to the point that he I earned the quarterback spot on the Clipper s All-County team. When all was said and done Jeff had thrown for just over 1400 yards in the pass happy Vik-J Vik-J ing offense. He also added 246 yards rushing 1. on the year. According to the Viewmont stats t Jeff completed 57 percent of the ball he sent up y and averaged 1 1 yards everytime he completed ) a pass. "HE WAS A very hard worker and a student A of the game" offered his coach Warren Hatch, "If was a new system for him to learn and he y Picked it up extremely fast. I know in football it's a cliche to say a kid paid the price but Jeff ki certainly put in the time and effort." j Jeff was more than just a passer for the Vik- ( ings, although that is what he'll be remembered A ' as, in fact he was one of their leaders both on ' and off the field. As one opposing coach noted, j "he probably isn't the most talented athlete of ' all the quarterbacks in the county but he certainly cer-tainly was a great quarterback.
