| Show four r our districts report red cross roll call results up to monday of this week only four towns or districts in the south sevier chapter territory had reported results of the annual red cross roll call but three of the four had gone over their quota and the other was close to the top it is hoped that the work will rill be completed throughout the territory and f funds turned in to the chapter headquarters by the end of this week according to E H street roll call chairman the pressing need for funds to enable the red cross to aid national defense preparations is commanding response throughout the pacific area according to reports from headquarters in san francisco one of the primary purposes for which the american red cross was created by congress is to provide voluntary relief to the men of the military and naval establishments of the united d states A program has been developed by the red cross to train volunteer women to serve as nurses aides in major metropolitan hospitals and not only to offer nursing aid but to aid in communication muni cation and generally contribute to the morale of the men in the enlisted forces of the united states army and navy although this is the primary object at which roll call funds will be directed this year the red cross will endeavor to continue its disaster relief program within the country and to send war relief supplies to great britian and to conduct other services deemed 0 of it interest erest to this country |
