Show i The public is invited to attend a lecture on "'Teaching Human Sexuality in the Home" presented by the South Davis Junior High PTSA. The meeting will be held in the gymnasium at 7 p.m. on Feb. i7. THE GUEST speaker is Dr. Alvin Price from BYU who many recognize as a very well informed and entertaining speaker. Dr. Price has worked with the Head Start Program in Utah for many years. He produced pro-duced a film in child development develop-ment for the Alpine School District, and has written for the Slate Education Department. Depart-ment. He is presently writing for the LDS Church Curriculum Curricu-lum Committee. SEX EDUCATION is a subject sub-ject on w hich very little can be taught in Utah schools. Therefore, There-fore, it is very important that children receive this information informa-tion in the home. Some statistics statis-tics that cause concern are: I. Utah has the third highest pre-marital birth rate in the nation. na-tion. 2. Studies indicate 50 percent per-cent of Utah's teenagers are sexually active. 3. The pre- marital birth rate in Utah has increased 700 percent, since 1963. With the changes in society soci-ety the South Davis PTSA board feels we have to revamp our teaching techniques. 4LSO MAKING a presentation presenta-tion at the meeting will be Mary Hughes, director ot Davis School District. Parent Education Resource Center (PERC). She will acquaint people with the materials available at the center to help parents teach sex education, their children.
