Show law governs bovino farm machinery permit necessary for public use of hai harvesting vesting equipment with the harvest season ap preaching the utah state board of agriculture friday called attention of all farmers to the new state law which requires that traveling farm machinery must be cleaned thoroughly before being moved from one tract to another H W gore district agricultural inspector stationed at richfield gave emphasis to the ruling locally in the following statement it is recognized that perhaps one of the greatest sources of the spread of noxious weeds is actually in the planting of seed infested jaath seed of noxious weeds this often occurs by way of one of said machines passing from an infested farm to a non infested farm thereby mixing noxious weed seed with what would otherwise be clean seed also any seed that might drop from one of these machines on a farm that is othen otherwise vise clean immediately infests that farm the law provides that an operator of any one of said machines before leaving an infested field and responsibility is placed upon the operator of the machine to ascer tarn tam whether the field is infested before he leaves said field shall sweep all exterior parts and exposed parts of said machines free from noxious weed seed and refuse in case of a combine harvester or threshing machine same should the be equip equipped bed with a blower and the law requires that the machine shall be speeded up and all noxious weed seed and refuse be blown from the machine all gears pulleys canvases screens elevators fans belts and other working parts must be cleaned free from noxious weed seed responsibility is placed directly upon the operators of these machines to see that the machines are free from noxious weed seed before they leave a noxious weed infested field failure on their part to perform this service will mean in case an inspector or any other person who finds that the work has not been properly done and sees fit to enter a complaint that the operator is liable to prosecution the law provides that permits must be obtained from the utah state board of agriculture before any farm machinery may be used for public service any person failing to comply with the provisions of this law is guilty of a meanor which under the general statutes of the state of utah is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not e exceeding K six months or by a fine in any sum less than three hundred dollars or both |
