Show J co C C raps traffic la law W eaf orcen tent national charter presentation banquet set for oc tober i 5 at high school A resolution passed at th the state estate convention of the junior chamber of commerce of utah urging that state highway patrolmen be placed under civil service was discussed at the meeting of the richfield J C C held monday evening in the legion hall A discussion of the crying need for greater efficiency in enforcement of traffic regulations on the highway brought enthusiastic response from the club membership As a constructive measure the club decided through its traffic to request governmental units to give the matter aleater gi eater consideration and to employ assistants to help patrol the highway and city streets if it is found that the failure to more strictly enforce the traffic laws can be attributed to a need for a larger patrol or police force the rapidly growing club membership was increased by ten new nev m members embers who were introduced to the club monday night J D ford was appointed state director and with president kenneth isbell will represent the club at all ah meetings of the state J C C 7 board neil Alag magleby leby was introduced as the new assistant secretary announcement was made that the he national charter presentation banquet and dance will be held by the club wednesday october 5 at 8 p m at the richfield high school nelson kelson W aldrich national vice dent and several state officers offis s are expected to be guest sp ah aks s with the cooperation of richfield city all members of the richfield girls drum and bugle corps along with their leader will be special guests at the national charter presentation night banquet at this time mayor john L sevy jr will extend congratulations from the city the following resolution was adopted be it resolved that we the richfield junior chamber of commerce in session assembled and with unanimous vote hereby urge all officials concerned to take immediate steps to curb the increasing in fatalities on the highway and to reduce traffic violations that inasmuch as richfield has of very recent date been deprived of uie the association of one of its pi eminent young girls through a fatal traffic accident accident we earnestly urge the utah state road commission to remove any hazardous turns and willow screened sections insofar as appropriations will permit be it further resolved that we favor the early adoption of the utah junior chamber of commerce Comme ice resolution to place highway patrolmen under civil service that as a an immediate step to c curtail arta s said aid accidents we appeal for additional help from the city the county and the state road commission to patrol streets and highway for the purpose of checking drivers licenses inspection cei etc and that in the selection of such additional help we urge that men whose characters are above reproach be selected that aluther small districts tie be allotted to each man in order that he may efficiently patrol same be it further resolved that proper publicity be given the hours in la which the richfield semaphore will III w be in operation |
