Show CL FOR C C C E ES I 1 IN welfare director enthusiastic over accomplishments of camps it is anticipated that a call will be made for camp enrollees earol lees during the first part of april according to R T thurber director of the sevier county public welfare board any in the county between the ages of 17 and 28 desirous of entering the should register at the welfare off office ice in richfield mr thurber states that experiences in sending boys to the camps have been most gratifying reports coming to his office indicate that most of the boys are happy in their environment and are making progress in their work two or three boys are taking examinations ami nations for master mechanic degrees these are boys who en tere d the camps without ial training and with but little education the opportunity has been given them to work on tractors caterpillars and other road machinery chi and because of their interest in this line of work they are getting firmly established in a trade that will be of benefit to them when they leave camp most of the camp boys have taken advantage of the educational cat ional classes and instructions provided in the camps there are three major purposes connected with the C which are not fully understood by many citizens although th the camps have been organized nearly four years these are first to allocate the wages of enrollees to members of their families as a relief measure second to protect soils from flood and wind erosion and to rehabilitate forests and third to lay the foundation for an improved background in the lives of the enrollees this last mr thurber stated is an all im matter and because of the experience we have had bad in the camp life activities we are determined to assist every boy who enters the camps to become self sup porting and ambitious and to have him leave with a higher estimate of his own ability and a more emphatic regard for doing things in life that are worthwhile |
