Show CALL conference of STUFFS STAFFS OF FIVE COUNTIES R T thurber announces general welfare program for sevier county A regional reg ional conference of county boards of welfare and administrative staffs will be held here friday and saturday march 6 and 7 the counties included in the region are sevier sanpete San pete wayne piute diute garfield and kane the purpose of the convention will be to give county groups an opportunity to receive instructional advise from members of the state welfare board it is expected that darrell J greenwell director of the state F welfare board will be here t to 0 give an address on the national security act and the state welfare pro gram it is also expected that mrs V 31 11 parmalie Par malce director of the social service department of the state welfare board will be in attendance and make an address and I 1 that a miss margaret davis director of the educational department will be present and conduct a series of round table discussions on matters pertaining to county welfare work the sevier county welfare board appointed by the county commissioners is composed of the following members H S christensen of richfield chairman woodruff sylvester of elsinore joseph A smith of monroe A C prows of salina mrs airs dora B jensen sen of richfield mrs myrl brugger of venice with R T thur thurber her of richfield secretary and director and miss nina hancock assistant to the secretary the county welfare program it was stated by R T thurber is intended to take care of residents of the county over 65 years of age who are in need of assistance it also provides that the first child in a dependent childrens family is entitled to 18 per month and every other child in the family is entitled to 12 per month it also X 11 provides for proper care of the blind that is medical assistance or financial assistance whatever mec necessary essary ta to maintain jahe the individual on a proper standard dard of living a program for the hospitalization and medical care of crippled children where such assistance cannot be given by the family of which there are approximately fifty cases in sevier coun ty ty it is also proposed that in the program of public welfare emphatic attention will be paid to the delinquent children of this county it 19 proposed that a board be organized of the most efficient men and women to pass on those who are subnormal sub normal intellectually this board will be comprised of a representative from the medical profession one from the teaching profession one irom from the sheriffs office one from the juvenile court one from a religious organization and the officials including the case workers of the county welfare staff halfon half of the money for old age assistance is to be furnished by the county and state the other half by the federal government through the social security act |
