Show 0 I 1 wayne county BETTY V r BRIAN AN correspondent 0 0 the children of mr and mrs airs william C potter honored theil their parents on their golden wedding february 19 with a dinner program 1 and dance at the loa amusement 1 hall two hundred relatives andl and friends were bidden to the dinner tuesday afternoon at which a program was given by members of the family A childrens dance at 4 followed the program and an old time dance was given in the evening for the public many friends gathered to honor the couple mr and mrs airs potter were married at mt arye north carolina february 19 1885 after ridin riding 15 miles horseback in weather b below zero they are the parents of 13 children 12 of whom are living and attended the celebration mrs airs clifton hofheins mrs clarence red ler both of salt lake city mrs riley stephenson mrs harv harvy harvey Y taylor angus charles wm C potter jr all of loa mrs prank frank forsyth teasdale mrs arthur nielson mrs airs ernest mcclellan both of payson mrs ottis stewart richfield they have 46 grandchildren and 5 great grand children at a meeting of the wayne county Wool growers association the following men were chosen to represent the wool growers on a committee adjusting claims on the public domain vern pace emery king george coombs royal brinkerhoff W D brinkerhoff A government representative will meet with this committee some time in march the stake relief society is sponsoring a series of picture shows in the various towns of the county this week mr and mrs frank buchanan of teasdale announce the marriage of their daughter lydia to jay peterson son of mr air and mrs thomas peterson of loa which took place february 15 mr and mrs peterson will make their home at loa loa celebrated birthday with races and a play given by local talent the four act comedy happy valley was presented by the following cast mrs bepple mrs reed brian mrs worth north lena hollerman willis stanford taylor allen alien jackson and nephi rees I 1 0 L D taft government trapper for garfield sevier and wayne counties and lawrence durfey assistant assi si trapper came in recently ith the hides from four cougars which they had killed making a total of nine lions killed since the first of the year the kill cons consisted of three males and one female the two large males measured nine feet one inch while the third was about five feet eight inches the female measured about ci eight ht feet mr air taft stated that the lions were all very fat which seemed to indicate the death of many deer sheep and cattle by them the lions were captured at oak creek on the cast side of the boulder mountain As mr taft emerged from a moche cave into which he had followed their tracks I 1 the dogs chased one directly past him the dogs cornered the lion in a large crack of the rock while mr taft shot him from above at the crack of the gun the dogs rushed in to finish the lion as their reward as was customary however in this case the lion had not weakened sufficiently to make this safe and attacked the dogs fiercely nearly killing one mrs joseph josep h callahan of loa joined her brother and sister in law mr and mrs W H johnson so n of salt lake city last week in a trip to california mrs callahan met her father and sister whom she had not seen for awen ty two years at a family reunion try the new sprouse reitz store in richfield rich field opposite te the anema |
