held here monday night at which paul R arentz chief engineer of the utah state planning board explained to the county commissioners mayors of sevier county towns and others the proper method of submitting projects for participation in the new federal relief program mayor W L warner caught the spirit and mode made a list of items totaling all incorporated towns have received questionnaires on which they are to list their projects and the unincorporated towns will submit theirs through the county commissioners in addition to this the county will also submit as many county projects as they see fit at the monday meeting mr arentz emphasized the fact that the state officials as well as the federal government is interested in having each political subdivision submit every possible project that is needed by the community in line with this request mayor warner listed many items on which he has little hope of favorable action but which would undoubtedly be of benefit to the city heading the list is a request for for installation of a new city water distributing system at a special bond election several months ago the tax payers voted against the city going any further into debt for a new water system but the mayor is submitting it again on the possibility that the f funds may come as an outright grant from the government another major rem item is a new city administration building to house the city offices fire department and an auditorium to be used as a gymnasium or for civic gatherings this is listed at another building which the city needs is a hospital on the suggestion of mr arentz the city is asking for this figured at and probably the county will also list it the balance of the list is as follows sewerage Sew arage and disposal plant improvement and equipment of playgrounds near natatorium purchase of new lands near natatorium 12 airport rights of way for alleys in business district grading graveling and oiling of streets improvement of irrigation system golf course flood control at the mouth of cottonwood canyon planning surveys work on parks and cemetery and a municipal power plant the municipal light plant is asked for because in connection with several of the other projects such as the airport recreational center and street improvements such a great amount of additional lights will be needed that the cly would be unable to pay the cost of power used the city now owns according to mayor warner a plot of ground on main street just south of the post office that would be ideal if large enough for the city administration building probably Pro bobly if this land which is 90 feet by feet Is not sufficient a part of the adjacent lot could be purchased L little ittle space would be required for the housing of the city offices and the balance of the building could be used as a community center or recreational hall richfield ritchfield continued on page 4 richfield lists federal projects continued from page 1 is badly in need of a large convention government will have a hard time spending the the president has asked for if the financing is to work a hardship on the towns conservation of water is also 0 one ne of the most important imports ant items to be listed in connection with the project of improving the city irrigation system mayor warner pointed out that a large percentage e of the waste water could be saved with the installation of a proper system of ditches or gutters recreational features are import PO rt as the government advocates shorter working hours and more time lime for recreation in this line the city i is s asking for a first class golf course construction st of several tennis courts completion of the baseball park and other minor projects on all of these projects a small amount of would make them use able but a
