Show owner seeks true report about his favorite horse I 1 N P peterson owner and rider of the bay horse which died while in the parade last week was somewhat surprised and disappointed at an erroneous report which appeared in one of the salt lake papers stating that the horse had a sun stroke and had to be shot before the parade started which just creditable to bill the well known horse that nearly completed the march of the parade his last the horse had been a favorite in parades in richfield taking part in every parade during the past fifteen years as far as is known by his master mr peterson had ridden him up and down main alain street two or three times before the parade started wednesday and the horse was perspiring quite heavily when the parade began although the cause of the horses death is not definitely known mr peterson believed it to be the result of some congestion con jestion caused by the heat overexertion over exertion and excitement as the horse was one of these high strung animals always sensitive to the music of bands bill or guff as mr petersons grandchildren called the horse was a very intelligent animal always coming when his name was called and quite adept at tricks one of which was to lift a front foot and shake hands when asked to do so he was about 18 years old the horse had made the march down main street and had gone as far as the manning pharmacy on the return march when he suddenly threw back his head bead and then dropped to the pavement where he died about twenty minutes later mr peterson whose right foot was pinned under the horse at first thought his own injuries were very slight and stood talking to friends for about 45 minutes before he started wall walking drig home after having had the foot bandaged at the drug store however his foot swelled quite badly and a cut and bruises on his bis knee also gave him considerable pain although he is now able to walk about with the aid of a cane |
