Show P PICTURES MAKE interesting EXHIBIT AT STUDIO six of seven surviving veterans of sevier county in picture group during the black hawk encampment many people were attracted by the display of pioneer pictures in the window of the richfield studio gift shop of which mrs F H king is owner and manager enclosed in one long frame are pictures of six of the seven surviving black hawk indian war veterans of sevier county while there are enlargements of eight or ten pictures of richfield scenes taken a en a number of years ago among the scenes is one of the present richfield townsite when it was covered with sagebrush one showing the old stake tabernacle on main street one showing a flood on main street and one showing most pr prominently eminently the saloon which was located where the john christensen co hardware now stands the absence of cars on the street the old tie posts to which riding ponies were tied the horses and buggies were viewed with interest unfortunately the pictures were not dated the enlargements large ments were made by the studio from a collection of pictures belonging to mrs H K neill and were purchased by mayor warner to be hung in the city offices in the court house bouse mrs mra king has the negatives of all the pictures i and will be glad to print pictures from them for anyone the veterans whose pictures appear in the group are joseph F parker 93 of joseph who served at heber city peter gottfredson 87 of richfield who served in richfield in 1865 and in mt lit plasant PIa sant 1866 67 re he is the only man now living who held office in the militia during the black hawk war john S adams 89 of richfield who served in washington county 1866 67 nathan E lewis 86 of elsinore who served in richfield in 1865 and at manti 1866 67 mr lewis was featured in a float from elsinore for the encampment parade edwin thurston 81 of annabella who served at ephraim Ephr alm 1868 72 hans hang tuft 82 of monroe who served at gunni Gunn laon son 1866 67 ole P borg 85 of salina is the seventh of the surviving veterans but mrs king was unable to take a picture of him as he be has been confined to his bed with illness the past three years he served in richfield 1865 67 mrs king who made the pictures at her own expense is to be commended for her interest in calling attention to the group |
