Show DEER HUNTING BUT NO N many old timers returned home without their customary buck tragedy comedy and disappointment all were involved in this years deer hunting season four accidents none of which was fatal however occurred to mar the occasion art jensen of elsinore suffered a severe injury to the inside of his ankle and foot early friday morning mo g while hunting on the west ivest mountains above joseph he was said to be pointing out a deer to his companion compani when his little finger struck the trigger of his gun causing it to discharge he was brought down to camp by dave ittenberg Wb of richfield and rushed to the richfield hospital by his two companions of ogden doctors rie and gledhill dressed the wound and found it necessary to cut away a section of the ankle bone and considerable flesh and tendons he is still at the hospital and reported to be running very little temperature but while dr states that the foot will be saved still it will in all probability be permanently stiff richard baker son of mrs ann baker of richfield suffered a minor injury to his bis left arm when the gun of a hunting companion a short distance behind him was accidentally ci discharged the bullet striking the stock of bakers gun which fortunately served to break the force of the shot and part of the bullet entered bakers arm and has not yet been removed dr reports that no serious injury will result to the arm however two other accidents resulted to hunters although not from shots charles jensen brother of dan jensen local traffic officer of richfield plunged a hunting knife deep into his arm while skinning his deer after he arrived home he suffered considerable loss of blood and fainted a number of times before he was waa got to bed by his family george westwood of circleville Cir cleville suffered a broken arm as the result of a rolling rock which had been loosened by some hunters above him on the east side of the beaver mountain he was brought to richfield for treatment deer hunting generally was reported not as good as in former bears years in this section many old timers who always heretofore have got their buck early on the opening day such as leo lec martin frank martines Mar lines frank carron and others having returned home skunked skulked sk and disgusted the west mountains however proved to bo be about the only place where deer were plentiful several parties who centered their attack above joseph in the vicinity of parkers ranch filled up early the second day and the buck were reported choice and fat from feeding on acorns there was no snow at all on the mountains two or three other parties on the west mountains just above richfield reported excellent success one humorous incident that occurred in tb that at vicinity was when al jepson of ra richfield broke broad t hc fore leg of a deer and had no more shells for his bis gun not to be outdone out done however al got out his lasso ran the deer down roped it and cut its throat the deer season closes at sundown next monday october 30 and many disappointed hunters plan to go out this weekend for a final try at the wary fleet footed game |
