Show apio PROGRESS BEING C C C many richfield men alert obtain needed employment on project the busy sound of hammers and saws at the richfield airport is music to the ears of some 25 sevier county carpenters who will have employment at 6 a day for approximately three weeks in the construction of winter quarters for the C C C camp which is to be stationed here until spring As soon as the building program has progressed a little farther a crew of plumbers electricians and helpers will supplement this force of carpenters which is expected to increase to between 40 and 50 before this job is completed every carpenter who has applied so far has been given employment stated lieutenant A W dannemiller who is in charge of the construction twenty five C C C boys from sevier county are temporarily quartered at the fair grounds here and are engaged in piling lumber and otherwise assisting in the construction work As soon as the barracks are ready the entire camp from grover wayne county will be moved down here and bring the personnel of this winter camp to approximately members work on the frame buildings of the camp is progressing very rapidly the side supports and floors are up for two of the four barracks each of which will accommodate 52 men the foundation I 1 is s finished for the large mess hall and stakes are driven for the main administration building which will also house the officers the camp will face the main highway on the west and it will be in the shape of an inverted goblet water is to be piped from richfield drains are being put in to carry off water that flows through the camp from the west if the open weather continues the camp will be ready within three weeks from the time it started on tuesday of this week captain chas M kennedy now in charge of camp grover will be the commanding officer of this camp he is from the coast artillery reserve at san francisco two definite and worthwhile projects have been outlined tb give the C C C boys employment during the winter months one is the building of a wood road from richfield 12 miles up in the west mountains toward fillmore the other is the construction of a 25 5 mile telephone line which will give direct connections to fish lake instead of having to route phone calls through h salina as ia i necessary at present |
