| Show antimony bishop dies friday at local hospital laurence gates 38 bishop of the antimony ward died friday in n the richfield hospital of a ruptured appendix append bc bishop gates was lorn born april 21 1893 1891 3 in escalante a son of the he late hyrum gates sr and rose heaps gates lie he received his us education in the escalante pubic lie schools and in the richfield ligh high school on january 26 1916 he married mail warner of antimony in in the salt lake temple leaving the same day to fulfill an I 1 L D S mission in the northern states returning in 28 months lie he was appointed superintendent of the antimony sunday schools in 1920 he was appointed bishop but after serving two years was released on account of ill health he then moved to salt lake city returning to an antimony in 1925 he was made president ent of the religion classes of garfield stake he had served in this office but a short time wh when he was called to fill a si six xen months mission in the western states in 1927 he was reappoint ed bishop and served in this thi position until his death he also was prominent in civic affairs a dairyman and president of the osiris creamery company he is survived by his widow three sons and a dag daughter liter keith 10 bobby 6 halvor 2 and carol joy 3 months three brothers and three sisters also survive hyrum gates jr of escalante mrs jed eyre of escalante charles H gates of salt lake mrs smith griffin and lloyd gates of escalante and mrs pearl christensen of richfield funeral services were held in antimony monday |
