Show highfield goff SCHOOLS FOB OKEH TEETH work of project during past three years shows marked results the teeth contest conducted in the richfield schools as an linual project during the last three years was concluded this year with exceedingly satisfactory results acco according r ing to miss aliss laura G willes s school c h 00 I 1 nurse of the sevier district for the purpose of contesting for the prizes of afeie eie ahe he salol 1 was divided into competitive groups as follows fifon and sixth grades thaid and fourth grades first and second mrs rhoda youngs sixth grade came in first first with per cent receiving an award of 5 miss mae barnes fifth grade competing with mrs airs youngs group came in second with 99 per cent receiving a prize of 3 miss bliss lydia hansens fourth grade and miss bliss ruth buchanann Bucha nans third grade tied for prizes reporting at the same time per cent and each group was awarded a prize of 4 the first grade under miss bliss sadie ogden and the second grade under A mrs maude utley tied with 75 per cent each and each received 4 miss mala Poul sons fourth grade came within three of a prize and mrs Christen sens third and fourth grades within four of a prize to make the prizes for the contest possible the local professional club contributed 10 and each of the local dentists dr E W poulson dr L A poulson an and dr R S bell contributed tri buted 5 the okeh teeth contest was in initiated in this locality when three years ago the B P W club of richfield became interested in health work in the grade school of richfield and offered I 1 a prize to the first grade to report per cent in teeth correction the work went over so successful successfully iv that the club established the custom of offering an abaid for okeh teeth te eth each year the last two years the dentists of richfield have also given prizes making it possible for the schools school s to put over a most successful campaign the contest has gained favor from other organizations and the school nurse and teachers conducting the contest greatly appreciate the financial aid given by the L D S relief society groups of the four richfield wards and by the richfield study club as well as by the dentists who have done much without pay the school nurse and teachers have put forth every effort to encourage and help the students in this important health movement and they express appreciation to the tl 11 e parents who with the exception of one or two have given whole hearted cooperation in reviewing the accomplished in the three years that the contest has been conducted it is interesting to note the growth that has been made according to miss willes at an examination of the school children years ago it was found that 89 per cent had decayed teeth this year it was f found that only 33 per cent had decayed teeth making a gain of ga per cent this year children had bad okell teeth to begin with and have since gone to the dentist making a total of children having okeh teeth only SO 80 children of the in the grade school have not been to the dentist to have their teeth okhee |
