Show I 1 SALINA by special correspondent 0 0 high school holds big carnival friday evening the north sevier high school celebrated its annual carnival at the new high school building miss bliss stena S co r principal remarked that it was the most profitable carnival ever held in the history of the school and more than five hundred dollars were the net proceeds of the event the program for the evening eve began with dinner at six bli miss ve bohman assisted by the girls of the sophomore class was responsible for the delicious dinner the booths and places of entertainment tain ment were open at and a bigger program of stunts minstrels st refis plays etc has never been staged in north sevier at the carnival dance was scheduled to begin during intermission the long king and queen of the carnival tad and doris madsen of the senior class and their closest contestants byron jensen and henrietta horn of the juniors junior and harold webb and verl poulson of the sophomore class danced the honor waltz tad and doris will have a nice piece written about them and have their photographs placed in an honor page in the northern light the school annual the financing of f which will be done with the carnival profits mrs rose freece won the beau ticul quilt donated by the senior class miss nelda breinholt Brein bolt won the thanksgiving turkey and miss hiss beryl hickman won the man set all AJI in all a great time and those who missed it are certainly out sudden reath of mae mac peterson Pc terson mrs mae browning peterson wife of charles peterson Peters employee at the coal mines in salina canyon passed away suddenly monday evening of last week at 5 following a trip to salt lake city mrs epherson eP terson contracted a severe cold complications set in and she died from heart failure mrs peterson was born bom in las cona iowa 41 years ago she was married to charles peterson in summerset colorado and later they moved to utah living mostly in emery and carbon counties they moved to salina last june she is survived by her husband and one daughter alice mae of salina one sister a brother and her parents who live in iowa and nebraska respectively the body was taken to perron ferron tuesday where funeral services were held larger coal output due to the installation of a coal cutting machine in the salina coal mines recently the output of coal according to general manager H E lewis will exceed the former yield of tons by 40 tons and by the middle of df december the mine should be producing tons daily local 11 L 1 and personal Pm onal mr and mrs D G burgess wore were host and hostess to twelve guests at their home sunday evening progressive games were played and a delicious luncheon served at a late hour ladies of the club net met at the home of mrs jesse thornell Thorne II saturday afternoon business discussions and a short musical program formed the afternoons diversions luncheon was served mrs othello madson entertained the members of the young matrons matrona Mat rons club at her home saturday twelve guests wele present and spent the afternoon playing cards mrs france mattsson was hostess to the members of the ladies literary club at her home wednesday of this week A thanksgiving program was followed by lunch miss daphne hansen returned to salt lake city tuesday afternoon after spending the weekend with lier her parents parente mr and mrs airs irvin hansen mr and mrs bill wyatt of salt lake city guests last week of mr air and nd mrs airs C al hansen the misses hazel and ivie snow returned wednesday from a few days wih nih friends and relatives ill in salt lake city mr and mrs C W larsen left monday for their home in provo after having spent several days at the the william nelson home at loss creek miss bliss anna alma lou brock brockbank bank and H B returned monday afternoon from salt lake city where they were selecting stage equipment for the high school eleven deven officers of the first ward primary were entertained at the bac home of mrs antone borg wednesday evening mrs june webb and misses bell webb and jewel were guests of mrs sena bell at elsinore monday mrs airs frank herbert was accompanied by mrs C M herbert to salt lake city tuesday from whence they left for los angeles angel for an extended visit they will be there the guests of edgar and gillar herbert mrs airs H brohm of eureka was a guest last week of mr and mrs zoell whitbeck mr and mrs roy kiesel are the proud parents of a fine baby girl born bom to them tuesday mother and baby are doing very well miss bliss rosmond gribble was a guest aest at the arlo hendrickson home lome in glenwood enwood GI last week shirley wright returned home wednesday evening from salt lake city where she is attending school to spend the thanksgiving holidays loli days with her parents mr and mrs E C wright rex mitchell itchell bl who is employed at salt lake city was a guest at the home of mr and mrs E A thorson last week |
