Show BOOK 09 15 10 ck HOME PROJECTS supervisors would include monroe and salina in smith hughes L R humphrey state supervisor of vocational education arrived in Ri richfield clifield thursday and spent the afternoon and all day friday and saturday morning with john R adams local vocational agricultural teacher mr Hum humphrey is making a tour of the state visiting and giving personal instruction to these vocational teachers commonly knon as smith hughes instructors many of the boys home projects pi ejects were visited and next years program discussed the state supervisor expressed himself very well pleased with conditions as lie he found them in richfield although he be made a number of suggestions for improvements prove ments he urged an increase in the scope of the projects and that a greater per cent of the boys should own their projects he also emphasized the need of a farm mechanics program as an all essential part of the richfield high school curriculum mr humphrey had an interesting discussion with superintendent ashman principal Mau maughan glian of the richfield high school principal white of the monroe high school and mr adams vocational instructor regarding the possibility of establishing smith hughes departments in the monroe and salina high schools mr ashman expressed his desire to place these two schools on a vocational basis probably within the next year but stated that funds were lacking mr air humphrey said that these schools in question were next net in line among some eight or ten applicants but added that the state department also lacks funds to do this work and that such money must come from state appropriation tio the con census of opinion of these educators was that if sevier county is to benefit from such additional instruction the voters must see that their representative senta tive to the state legislature has instructions to vote for such an appropriation while in this vicinity mr humphrey was taken to fish lake by some of the local teachers and treated to the favorite local sport which resulted in a fair degree of success it is said |
