Show REDMOND SCHOOL the value of play play is a most necessary ry thing in its place but it i is s also the means mean of a most noisy schoolroom it helps take all worries from our minds it lots lets the body boda and mind relax and seems to rest t them hem it builds our bodies physically z and mentally almost as much is as many times we play the things which we will in latel life do therefore giving us a goal to work for even eren the pioneers of long ago saw the need of play to relieve them of their worries and sorrows without play we could not work redmond school enrolls in junior red cross all students of the redmond school have enrolled in the junior red cross they received some badges and charts of safety and other things the other day each student paid a fee to help heip get a red closs magazine they aie all very interested in the work of the association cotton project i the first and second grades und under the supervision of miss jensen have made a cotton project they have sticks with cotton top put around in tile the sand table to represent a cotton plantation negroes cut outi of paper aie in the field some are picking cotton and others are view ing the crop because of the way they have stationed the negroes it ma makes maes es it look like a real plantation I 1 clever calendar 1 the fifth and sixth grades in miss room have lave made a clever march and april calendar around it is a border bonier of bird pictures all of the same size mounted on blue paper the calendar is ruled off in squares a date in each at the close of each school day miss meier writes the names of the birds that the pupils saw luring during the day in in the square containing the date meaning of signs the first grade teacher has placed beneath the blackboard many signs signs 1 which will be seen in their life some of these are arc the names of diseases some cautions and some instructions the children are learning the meaning of them and what to do when they see them junior high remembers birthday donna nelson our unfortunate schoolmates birthday is on the of march the junior high students have planned to go go together and present donna with ditl a remembrance gift we are also going to celebrate with her at her home thursday at donna feels better now mow than ever before which we are pleased to announce civics class near completion the seventh grades civics book is near completion there is yet but fifteen pages to cover which can be done in a week this has been a new study for the pupils but they have displayed on oil exceedingly large amount of interest in it map study the third and fourth grade students in mrs walls room are very interested in maps and map drawing they have one large utah map tacked on the board in this map the counties aie drawn with each one having its different minerals and crops represented where coal iq ig extensively mined a small piece is attached with a string again we have music our harmonica practice which has been omitted for some time is springing up again the new harmonica books that were sent for several weeks ago have lave at last arrived we are arc now beginning to aleain a new piece and are progressing speedily under the supervision of miss verl poulson |
