Show 0 SALINA I 1 by special correspondent 1 0 0 vork at mine resumed the heavy flow of water in the pine nine of the salina lead zinc company any which had stopped develop nent for some time was conquered the installation of a new pump it the mine pumping began wednesday morning and within a few hours the water had been drained from the mine the pump with the forty horse power in use can lift five hundred gallons of water per minute and has a capacity for one thousand gallons per minute A smaller pump of twenty horse power the same type as the big one has been placed in the bottom of the shaft to hoist the water to the larger pump the results obtained with the new pump were very gratifying and the manager robert burns states that three shifts will ivill now be put to work at the mine he further stated that when the objective point of feet I 1 is reached crosscutting cross cutting will be comi fenced according to mr air burns the company has closed a contract with california zinc buyers for all carbon ate zinc ores to be produced at the i rate of 21 per ton for ores running forty per cent to the ton if the surveys are correct the company has i around a hundred thousand tons of jensen garney gee jay spencer the play I 1 was presented friday and saturday nights at aurora and redmond piute diute officers chosen new officers for the piute diute reservoir and irrigation company were chosen wednesday at a meeting called for that purpose S M jorgensen was named president 1 I W r vice president and J R barker engineer the secretary and treasurer appointive officers will be selected at a later date during the I 1 meeting water matters were discussed I 1 the meeting of the irrigation company had been postponed for so some tim time e due to the absence of the pies aiesi dent S al jorgensen brice mcbride water commissioner for the sevier river liver system was present at the gathering former resident buried here mrs airs louise passed away at huntington park california following an operation for appendicitis As mrs was a former resident of salina the body was brought here for burial and funeral s services were held in the second ward chapel wednesday afternoon A large crowd of friends and lela tives gathered to pay a final tribute to the departed interment took place in the east cerne cemetery tery mrs airs louise was born in scipio in 1867 she lived there until sixteen years of age when she moved to salina with her parents she was married to george Sor ensor who died about twenty years ago age while the Soren sons were living ir in colorado mrs and her hei children moved to huntington huntin agton park two years ago she is survived by four daughters mrs orvill hansen of redmond zilla and kitty three sons lee bert and earl all residents of california two tivo sisters mrs jesse steele of salina and mrs alm james adams of scipio survive also locals personals and society misses cleo crane maurine borg burnell colby mae murphy urphy Al rhea murphy and mrs airs kennard Lar larson sorl were hostesses at a miscellaneous shower given in honor of mrs airs thos J morley at the horne home of her parents mr and mrs alfred martin tuesday evening of last week thirty guests were present and enjoyed music and games until a late hour when a tray luncheon was served mrs morley then opened the presents and exclamations of deli delight greeted each of the attractive articles mrs george delange spent a few days dais with her daughter beryl on the return trip wednesday beryl accompanied her to salina the salina hospital has added a new nurse to its staff miss adams one of the old staff left the hospital last week miss Step more inore and miss fay arrived friday one to take the place of miss bliss adams and the other to enlarge robins who was tor of the white house hotel until last year when he moved to st anthony idaho was in town attending to business interests while here he visited numerous friends I 1 mr and mrs bert jensen and son hubert made a business trip to manti tuesday mr air and mrs air niels left tuesday for duchesne they intend to spend the summer there with their daughter mrs james kane mrs dan baker is recuperating from a serious operation performed monday of last week at the local hospital she is still in the hospital but is recovering rapidly and will ivill soon be able to be taken home the
