Show H S HOME COMING DY event observed in high school friday by assembly banquet and dance the annual home coming day dav of the alumni of the richfield high school was observed friday the la last st t day of school in the departing year the first feature of this gleeful event was the usual assembly held in the hi high h school auditorium at 11 a in m it was noticeable that less of the alumni attended this year than last year there were two reasons for it first the B Y U lid did not close school until friday afternoon and all our alumni who are now nov students of this had to miss the first part of the day the second reason is that the older alumni obviously had forgotten the meaning of tile the lay day and N were ere conspicuous us b by their absence otherwise i s e the assembly went off in great style and the audi was crowded to capacity with tile the high school students anti and a go goodly odly number of towns townspeople among them airs irs mary alary steiner erickson president of tile the alumni a association acted as master of ceremonies monies with her on oil the stage were secretary miss aliss alta thurber E executive acu ecu membris Mem beis miss nial nelson and talmage delange principal A 31 maughan superintendent A J ashman student body president jsmes fillmore and mrs nola coons nilson the pro program giani was appropriate tt to the occa occasion zion and met with hearty bearty ap as evidenced by the repeated applause tile the first numbers on the program were two brilliantly played piano solos by Alu alumnus ninus carvel carve 1 mattsson the ad address aress of the day was delivered by talmage tack delange robert poole earned hearty applause by two baritone solos and evan jensen accompanied by mrs anna callaway who was introduced introduce as honorary member of the association played aed two saxophone aophonse ao sao phone solos solo gre greatly at e enjoyed two tio readings by alii alumna 11 ina flo A so soprano solo b mrs z nilsson concluded the program an and formed its clinia clima after the ris assembly a business meeting was held for the transaction of the regular business and the elac tion of officers of greatest antei est was a discussion about the pr project to be sponsored pons ored by tile the alumni in it the ille interest inhere t of their old ld alma alina mater henzy bates clifford Alag magleby leby anti and irving peterson contributed suggestions and lead the als discussion assion among giong the suggestions offered was one tc improve and enlarge the gymnasium and one to improve the campus by building a grandstand and bleachers ble echers the matter was finally turned over to the newly elected executive committee for further action in the election of officers for president were here nominated clifford magleby 1 1 irving petersen lynn isbell and talmage 1 ge delange mr magleby le ie tl the le hi highest highiet vote anti and was de claier elected for vice president I 1 mrs irs elsie peterson barker defeated her opponent miss afton bowman bonman for secretary secre taly raiv were nere nominated mise alis e I 1 mildred bates and dorothy dark clark the latter one being elected for becu tive members tile the alumni elected H E benl beal and lynn isbell ibell others who had been nominated were ere harve i Dast dastrup ilip A 11 Ilau maughan glian evan jon jell sen and mayo Bow bowman nian the outgoing officers mr mar steiner Elf Ei ickson ekson miss alta aha Thur bei ali miss nial nelson and talmage age delange and principal A al Mati maughan ghan iele given a vote of thanks for their la labors borz duding the well nell appointed barque bacque held in the evening at the schools domestic cance sconce rooms about aboul 75 alumni and i chool officers officer ing dr L A poulson acted a tout mator and toasts were responded ded to by bv miss aliss nancy bird who nho in rhyme spoke on home Coin coming coining inZ carr ackerson who ullo an answered sered to A alumni lunini and principal Princ Priti A 31 maughan toast was R H S after the banquet the home cm ers attended the basketball barile game b between the manti champions and aich field which was almost won von by bv our boys and than concluded conclude d the day with ith a dance at the gymnasium |
