| Show conference or CALLED FOR THIS MONTH board of education takes steps to devise means for raising necessary school funds in the absence of president H N hayes who is in fillmore to represent the piute diute reservoir and irrigation go co at the court for millard county the regular semimonthly meeting of the board of education held saturday was presided over by vice president lewis W jones A lengthy discussion was had regarding the finances for the coming school term the school population is growing some of the school buildings are inadequate more room is needed transportation expenses are increasing and some s me improvements in the system and in in buildings are imperative pera tive the troubling problem is how to raise funds for things absolutely necessary the board therefore decided to invite invin some influential citizens who are large taxpayers to the next meeting to be held saturday march 13 to hear their opinion about it about 40 taxpayers have been invited to meet with the board at the Co mercial club rooms on that saturday at 2 p m acting on a report by the superintendent that some of the parents are still violating the law regarding sending to school all children of ages from frodi six to eighteen years the board requested the county attorney to in forni form these law violators that proper court action will be taken against them if they do not immediately comply with the respective regulations the following very important resolution was ivas indorsed endorsed indor sed and adopted by the board and copies sent to the utah senators and representatives at washington D C resolved that the board of education of the sevier school district request our senators and representatives a at washington to support su P port and work diligently for the passage of senate bill 2585 the purpose of which is to assure title in the several states to lands granted to them in aid of public or common schools to limit the period for the institution of proceedings to establish an c caption of lands from such grants because of their known mineral character and for other purposes purpose resolved further that in the event it should be found desirable or expedient to modify this bill or to substitute another to more effectually secure the purposes desired as set forth in tho the foie foregoing going quotation we respectfully ana and urgently request our senators and representatives to de avei everything nl within power to see that such a bill is introduced and passed this board of education feels keenly the alie for relief from the present practice of urith withdrawing drawing part of our school land it is our view that common justice as well as the great need for strengthening our common fund should arouse all concerned to leave no stone sione unturned to further a asure assure sure title to the state to lands granted in aid of its public schools |
