| Show H S KERR PROMOTED well known resident en engineer inear NOW I 1 assistant Assi stanl chief engineer EnZ ineer of state road commission according to an announcement in the salt lake papers H S kerr for many years at various times district engineer on the state road commission was promoted by the commission to be assistant chief engineer in charge of the office and second in rank to howard hovard C means chief engineer mr kerr success J R ellis who recently resigned to return to the service ot afi the railroad mr kerr is an engineer of varied experience perhaps the greater part of which has been in connection with railroads he was at one time in charge for a number of years of the cerro de pasco R R he also conducted a reconnaissance for A W cune cline who projected a transcontinental line party into the wilds of the andes there the trip took mr kerr into regions on the eastern slope of the andes seldom if ever before visited by white men he has also had experience in engineering work in other south and central american countries in utah in the last si six or seven years mr kerr was first in the employ of the then state engineer george F mcgonagle on the sevier river and the plute reservoir later he was drafted into the road forces mr mcgonagle also being a member of the state road commis sio sion in 1920 he left the states service serice for a time to become chief engineer for the knight investment company returning to the state and assuming charge of projects in southern and western utah with the title of resident engineer but performing the duties of district engineer during the time that title was abolished from the state road commission payrolls mr kerr is well known in richfield and has many friends here who wish him success in his new field of activities |
