Show SEVIER CO TO BEGIN wg 0 K acquires lease on acres s of coal land in salina canyon the sevier sevie r valley coal co of which C J sumner is the president S K X heppler the secretary and which is almost entirely composed of sevier county investors was the successful bidder on the lease of certain coal lands in salina canyon described as follows S NW SWI SW see sec 21 NW 1 see sec 28 2 8 T 22 2 2 S R 3 E S L ill utah containing acres as coal leasing unit no utah no 64 S NW swi sec 20 sec 29 T 22 S R 3 E S L M utah containing acres as coal leasing unit no utah no 65 the leases were offered for sale to the bidder offering the highest bonus on friday june 29 and president sumner acquired the lease for his company the specifications imposed upon the lessee are a royalty of ten cents per ton mine run for e every er ton of coal mined an initial invest investment of during the first 3 years of the lease and a minimum production of per year corn com fencing with the fourth year of the lease appropriate stipulations for tho the protection of the national forest in which the coal land is situated are incorporated in the lease the sevier valley coal company will commence work on the development of the land in the immediate future under the management of H E lewis who heretofore was manager of the standard coal company the present holders of tile the sevier valley company have worked hard and put sever several al thousand dollars into and holdings which they think are among the very best in the west extensive drillings by diamond drill have been conducted to determine the possibilities of the land and a coal vein of seven feet eight inches has been encountered which manager lewis proclaims the best to mine in an interview with the reaper president sumner states we are more than pleased with our condition at al the present time and it is our ambition to add another pay roll to sevier county by fall it if possible we know good support will come to us from the county and with a little help it will move along very nicely |
