Show held heid by the enemy on stage and screen an bit of old HI history tOry repealed Rete rc aled by county clerk jones last week our picture show patrons were d delighted eligh ted by the shoN showing ving of 01 the stirring drama held by the enemy and favorable comme comment was heard by all those who saw it and when people talked about it a smile placed on the lips of county clerk geo 11 jones who in years gone by was the directing spirit of the home dramatics club the activities of which still linger in ill the memories of the older residents the same drama was performed mr jones tells lib its fifteen years ago on the legitimate stage aud and scored a triumph many of the star performers are still with us and some of them are as enthusiastic about it is as they were in the years long gone bye but conditions have changed and are not favorable any more for the display of their talents as they were fifteen years ago we have a regular picture theatre now the schools lie bringing out their talent in shows several times every year and velling travelling tra stock companies are visiting us quite frequently and are entertaining us to a sometimes lesser degree here are a few of the leading characters of held by the enemy and the performers as mr jones remembers na them walter christensen played tile the part of colonel prescott Pr cscott otto farnsworth acted gordon biayne surgeon fielding the villain of the screen ver but quite an all amiable character in the original drama was played by H NL N hayes who used to be one of the star performers gen stanton nias as played by arthur henne smaller parts by A B williams the former editor of the reaper who interpreted the part of the old negro servant jesse bean lafe 1 morrison and geb morrison and mr jones the dix director ector himself made a lilt hit in the comedy part of the special artist for lesliea Le weekly the te minine leads were played by sarah hansen as rachel ardine coons as rachels younger sister ister fc and mrs jonathan lloyd the youngest member of tile the cast was admired in the oldest role that of mother hayne |
