| Show EDUCATION NN WEEK in our school page of november 23 3 superintendent A J ashman announced that sevier district will join in the observation of american education week during the days from december 3 to december 9 the program as outlined by the superintendent is as follows sunday december 3 addresses in church on god and country the days following are given over to the schools where monday american citizenship will be the topic tuesday patriotism to be explained in an all oration by a soldier wednesday will vill be school and teacher day thursday 4 illiteracy will be discussed and fridays subject will be ph physical education E each ach school in the district will set aside one day as day for parents and patrons this program is in keeping with the general outline tor for american education week to be celebrated all over the united states from december 3 to 9 the american legion the national education association and the united states bureau of education which are all three cooperating in the celebration are asking aid and assistance from the public churches chambers of commerce labor organizations organizations fraternal bodies luncheon clubs etc are asked to urge the mayor to issue a proclamation setting aside this week as american education week and asking the people to cooperate newspapers are requested to give ill all space possible to educational matters articles find news material and mei chants are requested to use window displays aliar appropriate opi tor fo r the occasion and to devote as much space as possible to matters of education in their their newspaper advertisements advertisements ci citizens everywhere are requested to ask the moving picture theaters to flash slides on the screen urging the people to visit the schools and study educational questions at all public meetings held that week it is hoped space can be found for some one to talk a few minutes on the necessity of education cooperation with the educational officials and other patriotic civic and fraternal organization by the local american legion post is asked on the ground that the country looks to the american legion to pave the way to patriotism and education servi service ce to nation state and community i regarding the request that newspapers give all apace Ios possible sible to educational cat ional matters the reaper is quite proud of the tact fact that educational matters are treated by our paper regularly waiting for occasions like education week wo we are giving a large percentage or of our space to the schools without any expense to them we are offering prizes for good contributions to the school page and we are liberally assisting in the promotion of all legitimate school activities we tell fell that we are doing our share let our subscribers readers friends and the general public do theirs also |
