Show R R TUNNELS OPENED TO TRAVEL IN CANYON the road to emery county through sa salina lina canyon is again in ili good shape since the railroad company has granted the privilege of 0 using the tunnels through the sawtooth section of the canyon secured through the elie good offices of the forest service officials otIcia ls for several years travelers through salina canyon had been using sections of the grade constructed twenty years ago as 33 the highway through the canyon this included two of the tunnels and it made a splendid highway there is brov provision inythe law that whenever any i part t of the public domain Is used as a highway for a certain length of time it becomes what is known in I 1 la a N as dedicated to public use whether or not the railroad people feared the loss of their holdings in ili salina canyon through this provision of law is not known but it is a fact that the railroad blocked the approaches pro proa aches clies to the tunnels this spring and built alleged detours for vehicles which made rather difficult the canyon road the forest service had built a tery ery substantial bit of highway in it the vicinity of the tunnels and the change in ili the road set this work at naught the forest service officials have succeeded in getting the railroad officials to reopen the tunnels for public travel last friday after several N beeks of negotiations |
