Show DEATH OF A PIONEER OF UTAH mrs catherine johnson of this city dies at the home of her son G H johnson anotnie richfield woman has passed away mrs catherine johnson the mother of joseph johnson who until quite recently was local manager of the branch consolidated wagon and machine company of this city died on friday october 27 at the home of G H johnson one of her sons on the day of her death she had reached the advanced age of 88 years mrs johnson was born in kold inz denmark she was converted to the faith of the latter day saints and came to utah in 1863 she was the mother of six children four sons and two daughters all of whom are living in speaking of mrs johnson it is well to say that she was a devoted and loving mother a kind neighbor a friend to the sick and distressed and a thorough christian woman her entire life and all she possessed were devoted to tile the welfare of her family Sli she ewas was a noble woman in every way she had three distinctive traits of character that we should emulate prize and cling to she was gentle she was economical and she never took precedence of others har her life was a long and useful one it can truly be said of her that she has gone to her rest and her reward the funeral ser services I 1 vices were held in the third ward chapel sunday afternoon ter noon many friends and relatives being present at the obsequies the speakers were bishop james anderson and G W coons the music was by the ward choir and there were beautiful floral tributes the interment was in the city cemetery |
