Show Comparisons of Snow Depths Following is a comparison of snow depths and water contents for Mar. 1 of each year since 1923 as lountl on the Ephraim Canyon watershed. Great Basin Ex. The above figures for the Great Basin Bas-in Experiment Station gives an average lepth of snow for the six year period f 46 inches and an average water con-;ent con-;ent of 10.61 inches. The figures also ;how that the 1928 totals for the first f March are just slightly below the .ix year average, and, higher han for 924 and 1926. For the Alpine Station the figures low totals for snow depth slightly ss than for the six year average with, pproximately 2 inches less water Vater content for 1924 is less than for 928 at the Alpine. , The snow cover on the middle and ligher elevations is drifted and packed is good as usual. The soil underneath he snow cover is well saturated with loisture and is not frozen. The last torm brought rain on the mountain nstead of snow. 1 The lower elevations have a very )oor cover of snow. All south expos- , 'res are practically bare. The solid is ery loose and wet. With the present torm our water supply should be a air average. . |
