Show Molasses for Chickens Is Found Profitable When used in moderate amounts, cane molasses lowers the death rate and makes for better health and production In laying flocks, according ac-cording to the test work conducted at the Ohio experiment station. The tests indicate that It can be used with profit as a substitute for not more than 10 per cent of the grain In the ration. Molasses contains no protein, hnt is rich in vitamines. If fed In larger amounts than 10 per cent of the ration, It was too laxative to be desirable and created cre-ated an abnormal thirst. Professor Profes-sor Winters, who had charge of the test, believes that the addition of molasses to a poultry ration that contains no milk Is of more value than when milk is fed. He recommends recom-mends five per cent by weight as a desirable amount to use In well balanced laying and fattening rations. |
