Show Hints on Planning' Surprise for Mother on Mother's Day Every girl enjoys a chance to display dis-play her knowledge of cooking and Mother's Day, which is nearly here, will give many daughters an opportunity oppor-tunity to surprise mother and pay her a sweet tribute by preparing and serving an attractive supper or tea on Mother's Day. It may be necessary to connive with father to get mother out for a walk or a ride to leave the kitchen kit-chen free so that the surprise may be just the regular Sunday evening -neal for the family with a few vt.rn; in rinnnr nf mnt.hpr' nr it there are members of the family .vho have established homes of their own, it will be nice to invite them in for this special evening. An attractiv basket of flowers may form the center piece for the supper table. And the table should be set with dainty linen and the best china and glassware. Daughter Daugh-ter will want mother to see how nicely .'he can manage. The menu should be a simple one ro that it will not be too much for the inexperienced hostess. Mir.s Inez S. Menu Cold Meat Platter Potato Salad Tomatoes stuffed with celery and Pinneapple Brown bread and butter Sandwiches Strawberry Mousse Cakes Iced Tea The cold meat platter may consist con-sist of one or more kinds of meat, tt may be the remains of Sunday's roast. This mat may be augmented augment-ed by a few slices of several kinds of ready to serve meats which are -vailable and which are delicious. The slices of meat should be arranged ar-ranged in neat rows on the platter. Garnish the platter with parsley and radish roses. If the plattere is 'arge enough the stuffed tomatoes may be arranged in a border around '.he meat. Strawberry mousse or other favorite fa-vorite dessert may be easily frozen n one of the trays cf the automat-!c automat-!c refrigerator. An hour or two spent in the klt--!Tn Saturday afternoon cooking ootatoes for the salad, cleaning "elery. etc.. will make the supper niile simple to prepare and mother's moth-er's r"asure will be more than -r'-u!?h reward for the effort expended. |
