Show This Prize Pumpkin Might Make 400 Pies Lexington, Ky. Mack Combs, Perry county farmer residing near Hazard, southeast of this city, lays claim to being the champion pumpkin pump-kin raiser of Kentucky, and he backs up his claim with an exhibit from his farm. His pumpkin weighs exactly 100 pounds and was grown on a vine 75 feet long and 8G feet from the hill from which the vine sprouted. It was the only pumpkin on the vine. Hundreds of people have expressed ex-pressed the belief that it is the largest specimen ever grown In Kentucky. Various estimates have been advanced ad-vanced as to the number of pumpkin pump-kin pies this mammoth pumpkin would make. County Judge K. N. Sayler, considered an authority on "uch matters, expresses the opinion that the Combs pumpkin could easily produce 400 pies of tt. e regulation regu-lation size. Mr. Combs has been offered $10 for the pumpkin, but so far lias declined de-clined to part with it for that price. |
