Show " - ' peiu uounty Utah, Friday, June 0, 1930 Number 27 Route 89 Held Most Scenic In North America Associated Lions' clubs, Commercial Com-mercial clubs and all important civic clubs between Manti, Utah, to Freedonia, Arizona, are putting forth efforts to make "Route 89" the primary route to the southern wonderlands. Mayor F. G. Martines of Richfield Rich-field is chairman of the general committee for the furthering of all advantages to the communities affected along this route, assisted by Roy Barker, secretary of the Richfield Lions and Henry E. Beal, secretary of the Richfield Commercial Com-mercial club together with other officers of the various clubs along the line. This route has long been known as the most logical entry to the southern scenic attractions. The following advantages are set forth by Mayor Martines to prove the assertion. "By coming over 'Route 89' road conditions are excellent to all places pla-ces of interest and any one desiring desir-ing to visit Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, Zion Canyon or the North Rim of the rGand Canyon can reach these places quicker and with less discomfort than by any other route. "Accomodations for the driving public are better and more adequate ade-quate providing excellent hostellery and through mail service from Salt Lake to Fredonia. This mail service ser-vice will aid much in the way of appropriations for excellent road building. "The scenery along the entire route is more pleasing to the eye than any other distance of like mileage of any scenic road of the west. In addition, the beautiful scenic wonders of Wayne wonderland wonder-land can only be reached "Route 89." Fish Lake is also a tributary of tins route." Mayer Martines makes the further fur-ther statment that "I am confident confi-dent that I am in keeping when I say that in the very near future 'Route 39' will be known to the outside out-side world as one of the most scenic routes in North America." |
