Show Silence of the Grave Before Harry Houdini die.l, that greatest of magicians agreed with his wife that he would try to communicate com-municate with her from the spirit world, although he had long scoffed at spiritualism. Ever since his death in 1926 his widow has watched watch-ed and waited for a message. A few days ago Mrs. Houdini con-' fessed that she had abandoned hope' of ever having a communication from beyond the grave, and said:-"The said:-"The silence is impenetrable; there : onlv a void." On the same day that she made this statement. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, one of the most eminent of living spiritualists, resigned from the Society of Psychical Research because the learned members of that body refuses to accept as authentic au-thentic any of the many reported messages from the "other world." After 48 years of painstaking in-' vestigation of thousands of alleged communications through metiuau and relatives of deceased persons, and society has not found a single one which ho.s stood the test of scientific examination. Yet many sincere persons believt: that they have had such communl-; cations, and no one could convince, them to tho contrary, so strong is the power of belief and imagina-. tion. |
