Show U. S. Faces Alternative Professor Irving Fisher, of Yale University, is generally regarded as one of the leading economists of the world. In a recent address, discussing war debts, he pointed out that when the United States thinks of the debts "in terms of money, we want them paid, but when we think of them in terms of goods we don't want them paid." The American people might just as well make up their minds to cancel the war debt payments or to provide a way for our debtors to ship us goods in payment. There is no other alternative and the quicker the issue is faced, th? sooner will world trade become normal again. |
