Ready to Contract , for Beets Contract Cash Crop Is Always Best To Produce The Agricultural Department of th-3 Gunnison Sugar Company announce an-nounce thai they will start taking contracts for the 1930 crop on Feb-luary Feb-luary 15th. The Company is very enthusiastic over the prospects of a heavy tonnage per acre for the coming season. The sub-zero temperature tem-perature during the winter months together with good snowraus nas In the past been good assurance of good results in growing of sugar beets and the present season has been the best since 1925 when record rec-ord tonnages were grown over both Sanpete and Sevier counties. The Company is asking the cooperation co-operation of all growers in that the contracts may be signed without delay de-lay and time and attention be given giv-en to careful preparation of seed beds and proper fertilization of the soil. It pays well for the grower to start working the soil as soon as thawing and moisture conditions permit so that a good mulch can be obtained and thus effect a saving sav-ing in the evaporation of moisture. In cases where fall plowing has not been done, the ground should be plowed without delay thus being able to get the advantage of additional addi-tional light freezes and additional moisture in 'the early spring. Early planting and early thinning has proven itself as very important in tonnage per acre. It is paramount to local prosperity prosperi-ty that a heavy acreage of this cash crop be grown so that the distribution dis-tribution of cash at specified dates may be enlarged. |
