Show i : : j j FOUNTAIN GREEN j By Special Correspondence Born to Mr. and Mrs. Homer Carver, March 30th, a boy. Mrs. Carver was formerly Miss Mary Barentson. Lloyd Collard of Idaho, Falls, Idaho, spent Saturday and Sunday Sun-day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs William Collard. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lund and four children of Eureka, California Califor-nia are having a three weeks vacation va-cation and arrived here Wednesday Wednes-day night to visit with .his parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Niels Lund, and also their many relatives and friends, as it is five years since their last visit home. He is employed em-ployed in the postal service there. At the 8th State Commercial contest which was held at the B. Y. U. last Friday, Moroni high school did very well. Miss Mar-jorie Mar-jorie Guymon of Fountain Green, who is a student there and is a first year typist, won a medal for third place in typewriting. She wrote 47 words per minute with 9 errors. Virginia Fry of Moroni, a second year student, won a medal for1 first place as she wrote 61 words per minute with "7 errors. The Moroni high school also received re-ceived honorable mention. Their instructor is Miss Margaret Broad bent of Heber, Utah. There were 40 schools of the state represented represent-ed by 237 students who took part. Reese Holman of ' Ely, Nevada spent a couple of days here' this week. The Gloom Buster's club members mem-bers met Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Hilda Christiansen Christian-sen where a delightful afternoon was spent and a delicious hot dinner din-ner was served. Special guests included Donna McDonald and Edna Ericksen of Salt Lake. A very elaborate party was given giv-en Sunday evening by Rozella Anderson An-derson at her home in honor of Bill Swenson. An Easter program was carried out fter which games were played and luncheon was served to the following guests: Geniel Jensen, Howard Blackham, Neva Jensen, Rex Kellett, Dora Larson, Paul Blackham, Edith Christensen, Gerald Bradley, Lola Livingston, Elwood Draper, Dean Oldroyd, Woodrow Draper, the honored guest and the hostess. A surprise party was arranged by the Gloom Busters in honor of Cliff Mayer at his home Sunday evening. Games were played and refreshments served. At the Spelling Contest held Friday at Nephi and sponsored by the tribune, two of our students, Jessie Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hansen, and Merlin Mikkelsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Niels E. Mikkelson, participated. partici-pated. . Jessie represented the elementary el-ementary school and Merlin the junior high. Jessie was fifth and Merlin sixth out of 18 contestants. They both did very well. Mrs. Melissa Samuels is visiting at Long Beach, Calif. , with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Taylor. They came to attend the funeral of Mrs. Taylor's brother, Frank Samuels, and oil i.ieti return Mrs. Samuels accompanied them and will remain re-main indefinitely. Mr. Kennedy Stager made a business trip 'o Salt Lake City this week. Mr. and Mv?. Ray Livingston announce the marriage of thir daughter, Reva, to Vance Allred of Ephraim on March 26th. They will locate for the present at Provo, Pro-vo, where he is attending school. He is very efficient in. art and painting and a great number of his paintings are owned by his friends here. They- have the best wishes of everyone for their success suc-cess and happiness in the future. Mr. and Mrs. LaVell Johnson spent the week end here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson. He is teaching school at Duschene. Miss Mildred Seager of Tremon-ton, Tremon-ton, Utah is visiting for a short time with Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy Seager. The M. I. A. Gleaner girls held a very successful party Monday evening in honor of their mothers moth-ers and it was well attended as most of them were there. A very clever program was arranged after af-ter which some very delightful Easter games were played. .Delicious .Deli-cious refreshments were served. Rozella Anderson spent last Tuesday with Mrs. E. W. Nelson of Moroni. Union meeting was held Sunday Sun-day afternoon at the Fountain Green ward chapel. Primary convention con-vention was also held in connection connec-tion with it. Mrs. Ericksen of the General Board of the Primary was present and gave timely remarks. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Allred announce an-nounce the marriage of their daughter. Katie, to Earl Nelson of Moroni on March 30th in the Manti Temple. They will make their home at Freedom where he has a farm. Their many friends wish them much success and happiness. |
