Show A Striking Illustration When one listens to the pleas of our socialistic friends urging that the state or government go into some line of industry, like operatng electric, tc-1-phone, insurance or other enterprises, one cannot help but stop and think about Muscle Shoals. How far would th". nation have progressed pro-gressed industrially, if power development develop-ment had been tied up by political wrangles such as have controlled Mui-cle Mui-cle Shoals since the war ended? What a calamity it would be to have our means of communication, transportation transporta-tion and power distribution at the iiircy of such political management. This illustration alone should be snfiicient to convince all persons that the old American doctrine of encour-arintr encour-arintr private initiative and enterprise In all branches of industry, is far superior su-perior to the broken down European practices of injecting the government Into the private affairs of people and business in ways which are entirely outside the legitimate functions of government. t |
